Q: I am totally new to this “website thing”. How does the whole process work?

Q: How long has Sagicam been building websites?
A: Sagicam was founded in 2014 by President + Founder, Nguetnya Bernard,IT Professional,Graphic Designer,Network admin,Database Admin,computer science teacher at the Turkish Maarif Foundation(Maarif),Yaounde .He believes in not just building websites, but in building relationships that last a life-time, and then some, hence the name. As the National IT Administrator of Maarif in Cameroon and Entrepreneur, he is passionate about every project and always loves “Being Prepared” for anything.
Q: How much does a website cost?
A: The cost of a website depends on so many factors,
just like the cost of a house may vary. Though our website projects generally start in the 50,000FCFA range for basic business sites and range upward depending on your unique needs.
Q: How does the payment process work?
A: The project starts with a 50% deposit. After design sign off and before we move into programming, we collect 25%. Once we have completed and fulfilled our scope, the final 25% is collected and your website is then scheduled for launch.
Q: What kind of businesses do you work with?
A: We work with a broad range of company types [small start-ups, large corporations, nonprofits, ASDPN, FAKOBOOK,CAMYEF,CAFENEC and more] across many business industries [technology, food, apparel, health + beauty, camps, travel, finance, arts, fair trade, and more.]
Over the years, we’ve helped businesses improve customer service, market their products, and attract customers. Functionality requests range from basic to advanced. Our team takes the time to get to know your industry, organization, and competitors to ensure your site supports all of your goals.
Q: How long does it take to build a website?
A: Our standard websites take approximately 30 days to create. Our E-commerce (online store) websites take approximately 60 days to create. This time will vary from project to project.

How long does it take to design a website?
The timescale will depend on many factors, such as how much work are we currently covering, do we need to keep reviewing and altering page designs, and other factors that may crop up. Generally speaking, if the client has a clear idea of what they want, and we receive the necessary additional images and information from them, that they would like to appear on their site, we can probably turn it around in two to four weeks. Sometimes however, a site may be more complex, and it might take longer, but generally speaking the basics of a website can be done within 30 days.
Will I need to meet you to discuss anything?
In the majority of cases, there is no need for you to do this. Most of the work (especially if we are creating sites for people who are not local to us) is undertaken by means of email communications, perhaps phone calls, or even using Skype or MSN. Yes we have been visited by clients, or visited them, and held discussions face-to-face, but this is not a necessity, unless of course you want to pay for our travelling costs in which case we would gratefully accept.
Once my site is designed, what happens next?
Once your website is up and running we can offer you a full support package designed to help maintain and update as required certain elements of your website. Basically we can act as “agents” for your site, taking care of further updates, additional modifications if required, and report back to you on page rankings, visitors and the like. If we are taking care of your hosting for you, it makes the support even easier.
HOSTING FAQ
Q: Where is my website hosted?
A: All websites that Sagicam creates must live on our servers. However, if at any time you wish to move to a new web firm or web host, we will package up your site at no cost to send to the new firm. Though at that time, we will no longer be able to support your site
On top of that Sagicam also has a 3rd party 24/7/365 security and monitoring team, so even when we are all sleeping, your server is being carefully watched over.
Q: How is my website backed up?
A: Sagicam backs up all of our client’s websites daily, weekly and monthly on rotation to a 3rd party secure server out of the location of our web server.
Q: How much does web hosting cost with Sagicam?
A: We have simplified our packages for hosting down to two options. Non E-Commerce:25,ooo FCFA per year and E-commerce: 50,000FCFA per year. All of our hosting packages are un-metered meaning that you will never be charged extra for going over a “limit.” There are occasionally instances though if a site creates so much traffic that it may need to live on it’s own server. We can help facilitate this if needed, but is extremely rare. Our yearly package also includes the cost of upgraded your site and patching with security fixes when needed as well as occasional and small web site content changes and phone support.
Q: Will you provide a full copy/backup of our site if requested?
A: Yes and at no cost! You 100% own everything that Sagicam creates for you and if requested we will provide a one-time full backup of your website. If additional backups are needed there is a minimal cost of generally $70 for additional backups.
Q: What about uptime?
A: On average we have a 99.8% uptime on our server. We take downtime seriously and required server maintenance and upgrades are always scheduled during off-peak and off-hour times by our management team at the datacenter.
Q: Is my hosting fee refundable?
A: Unfortunately we do not offer refunds on our web hosting accounts for any reason.

How much do you charge to design a website?
We develop websites from 50;000FCFA to 700,000FCFA on average. In some cases, such as extensive websites for towns and cities, the cost is often 1000,000 and up. Our quotes are about half what most many of our competitors charge.
What type of payment forms do you accept?

My business isn’t in your city, can you still build my website?
Yes. We have developed websites for clients across the Cameroon,the United States, even worldwide.
How long will it take to complete my website?
Most websites are developed in only 1-3 weeks. We’re also able to create a professional site in as little as 24 hours, when immediate promotion is needed.
My Brother in Law / Nephew / Employee says that they can design my site for free. Why shouldn’t I just let them design it?
Just because someone offers you a free service, that doesn’t always mean that they’re good at it. Especially if that’s not their full-time job, or they have little experience. When it comes to websites, plenty of people can build them. But most won’t know exactly how to get that site to show up well on search websites like Google, Yahoo and Bing.
I have a friend that has worked on cars since he was a kid. If he tells me that he can fix a problem with my car, I trust that he will do a good job. But if he offered to handle my taxes, just because he did it once for a relative, I may not take a chance with that. A mistake with something like that can cost me money. Just like getting a website done by someone without internet marketing experience can cost you potential business. It usually pays off to simply hire a professional in the first place.
I already have a website. Why isn’t it listed well on Yahoo or Google?
This is because all design companies can create a website, but most don’t have experience in getting those sites to rank well on search engines like Google. Even if you have the best looking website in the world, it won’t matter if people can’t find you.
The key to ranking well on Yahoo, Bing and Google is to find a design company that is experienced with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). By using a variety of techniques, an experienced web design company can improve your business exposure.
What should I look for when hiring a web designer?

How will I know if people are visiting my website?

What if I need to make changes to my website?
Most of the websites we develop can be edited with software that you can buy in stores or online. In some cases, we can even install a “Content Management System” so that you can make edits online. Our firm is also able to maintain your website for you.

Q: What platform do you build your websites on?
A: We build all of our websites on the open-source Content Management System (CMS) platform called MODX.
Q: Do you work with other platforms like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal?
A: Yes. In choosing to build with many platforms over the past 7 years, we have become experts in cms and can create extremely custom solutions for our clients.
Q: Can you help me update my existing website that another web firm built?
A: Yes. If only we modify . We have this policy so that we can 100% stand behind everything that we craft. There are issues of liability of multiple programmers touching the same code over time.
Q: Can you help me write content for my website?
A: Yes. We include copy writing and editing in all of our proposals. We also build your sitemap and help structure the foundation of your website in the planning stages.
Q: Do I own my website?
A: YES! Everything that we build will be 100% owned by you. Most of our clients stay with us for the life of the website. Our team is just irresistible that way. But if for any reason you decide you want to take your site to another hosting service and get another company to service the site, we will happily assist you in making the transition as effortlessly and efficiently as possible.
